There is a full-time position (80 hours per pay period) for a Primary Care Physician Assistant (PA) at the new Oconomowoc Facility.

Duties

This position is located at the Oconomowoc Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, working in the Primary Care Clinics, as part of the Medicine Division. The Physician Assistant will be a key member of the medical team, which includes MD's, NP's, RN's, LPN's, NA's and health aids. The Physician Assistant will also be a core member of the interdisciplinary team, which includes SW, PT, OT, SLP, MH, RD and pharmacy. The PA will be responsible to the Primary Care Division Section Chief. Responsibilities: Provide Comprehensive Primary care services to a panel of patients- obtain histories; conduct physical examinations; assess, diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions. Works within a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model (Nursing, clerical support and clinical support). Refer patients to specialty care when appropriate. Prescribe medications, order supplies, prosthetic devices and home health aides according to clinical privileges. Teach and counsel patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, plan of care and intervene with optimal treatment for patients and families; modify treatment plans as disease progresses. Support the advanced clinic access (ACA) principles to improve clinic flow, reduce number of visits per unique; Improve patient wait time in clinic. Participate in interdisciplinary councils, task forces and committees as assigned. Participate in selection and development of patient education materials Advance clinical knowledge and self and others by presenting continuing education programs for nursing and medical staff. Participate in the VA Medical Center Performance Measures and quality improvement activities The Physician Assistant has clinical expertise in care for patient in the outpatient setting. Clinical privileges of the PA for the medical functions, with a collaborating physician, are established in accordance with Medical Center policy. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills Current or previous experience in Primary Care Grade Determinations: Grade 1-Entry Level with knowledge, skills, and abilities that present the minimum skill set expected of an Entry Level PA. Nothing additional required beyond basic requirements. Grade 2-Intermediate grade level and has had progressively increasing responsibility and experiences. Two years of successful practice as a PA OR Successful completion of a PA post-graduate residency program sponsored by VHA Office of Academic Affiliations or other postgraduate residency programs accredited by VA, ARC-PA, U.S. Armed Forces, or another accrediting agency. OR A doctoral degree in a health-related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Grade 3-Full Performance Level and lead and organize patient care independently, practice within multi-disciplinary teams, and coordinate all aspects of patient care across the health care system. Three years of successful practice as a PA OR successful completion of a PA post-graduate residency program sponsored by VHA Office of Academic Affiliations or other postgraduate residency programs accredited by VA, ARC-PA, U.S. Armed Forces, or another accrediting agency and on year of OR A doctoral degree in a health-related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and on year of professional practice as a PA. References: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-8 Physician Assistant Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. The full performance level of this vacancy is 3. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of 1 to 3. Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.
