About the Position: This position is with the 63rd Readiness Division, Public Affairs Office located at Moffett Field, California.
Duties
Staff advisor to the Commanding General and senior staff principals on all matters pertaining to US Army Reserve public affairs.
Supervise and evaluate the implementation and execution of the community relations, media relations and command information programs.
Official spokesperson and primary contact for local and regional media that require immediate responsiveness.
Implement US Army Reserve community relations policy at Readiness Division and ensure compliance by supported commands.
Assign work based on relative priorities, in consideration of difficulty, requirements of assignments and capabilities of employees.
Develop performance plans, evaluate work performance and counsel staff as appropriate

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes initiating and preparing responses to inquiries from interested groups, the general public, and/or field personnel; writing and disseminating news releases and feature articles describing lectures, exhibitions, ceremonies, operational readiness, and/or field training exercises; assisting in developing, implementing, and reviewing public affairs policies, guidance, and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
