The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the day to day operations of the Youth Center. This position develops, implements, and administers clerical administration of the Youth Center, provides a safe and healthy environment to protect children and staff, assists the Director and Assistant Director, to ensure that the facility and grounds are maintained.
Duties
Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the program.
Assists in the Youth Center Programs.
Monitors and manages the reception/front desk area.
Assist USDA Food Service Monitor or alternate for the Youth Center Program.
Uses office administrative software to create, format, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and presentations.

- The incumbent may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty
- May serve as Government Purchase Cardholder for YC supply and kitchen purchases

- The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM
- This position has "regular contact with children" which requires a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for the position
- Must complete all required training, including but not limited to CPR, first aid, and food handler's certification and administering medication to youth.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes performing a full range of clerical support which includes preparing a wide variety of recurring correspondence, internal reports, and other documents; reviewing incoming/outgoing correspondence for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format; establishing, updating, and maintaining office records of various types in compliance with Air Force requirements; preparing, submitting and maintaining time and attendance records; requisitioning office supplies and printing support; performing clerical duties monitoring and managing reception desk such as receiving telephone calls, greeting visitors, monitoring sign-in/out procedures, staff to child ratios and activities within classrooms and center.

EDUCATION: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify provided the combined total of your education and experience equals 100% of the requirement. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience). NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Air Force Youth Center regulations, procedures, and processes.
2. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures to answer telephones, maintain files/office forms, order supplies,
and general administrative guidance.
3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
4. Knowledge of filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed.
5. Ability to locate, assemble, and compose routine, non-technical information for recurring reports and inquiries.
6. Ability to consistently communicate effectively orally and in writing, using courtesy and tact. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
