About the Position: Serves as the Senior Operations Officer at a training and experimentation center for Special Operations Forces with responsibility for ensuring adequate operational support and services are delivered to Rotational Training Units to allow supported commanders to focus on CV2 pathways, and experimental and innovative concepts.
Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or detail NTE 2 years by a current permanent Army employee.
Duties
Advises the commander on actions critical to the Special Operations Forces - Training and Experimentation Center (SOF-TEC) operational support to RTUs.
Monitors the operating environment, operational tempo and future organizational realignments to determine what services, support, facilities, and agreements must be in place to meet those requirements.
Represents the SOF-TEC Director/command interests in all committees, working groups, and boards that community/WSMR/FBTX requires command participation.
Serves as the continuity with external partners to ensure seamless support to the formation; command teams may change but SOF-TEC’s outward facing representative remains constant.
Identifies resource gaps required by the organization to meet USSOCOM and Army objectives.
Reviews justifications for personnel requirements and the allocation of manpower spaces for the subordinate elements.
Exercises full first and second-level supervisory responsibility over subordinate military and civilian personnel engaged in the substantive work of the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience: 1) Developing operational procedures for a Special Operations military command regarding future combat development, training development, doctrine development and materiel systems concepts and requirements. 2) Establishing priorities to recommend resource allocation and evaluate progress of elements in achieving goals and objectives3) Applying of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness or the improvement of complex management processes and systems. 4) Preparing briefing charts, fact sheets, staff reports complete with findings, analysis & recommendations this definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13)
