You will serve as a General Inspection Specialist in the Command Evaluation Office (Code 100E), Executive Department (Code 100) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will perform long-range planning and analysis for inspections, internal assessments, and area visits. You will assist in planning inspection scope and concept and in developing the methodology to be used unique for the specific issues. You will serve as Team Leader or team member performing on-site systemic and follow-up inspections of issues at subordinate commands and activities, both within and outside the continental United States. You will develop individual findings for assigned problem areas identified, validated, and verified during course of inspection. You will conduct investigations, inquires, quality assurance reviews, independently or as a team member, involving reports and supporting documentation involving critical and sensitive issues/cases. You will conduct special projects including assessment mandated by external governmental organizations. You will assist the Commander, Submarine Force Atlantic (COMSUBLANT) Inspector General in coordination of audits and special studies conducted by external government agencies. You will assist with monitoring all required follow-up actions and required responses to close-out audit recommendations made by external audit agencies via established Department of Navy audit channels.

Requirements

  • Some occasional travel maybe required.
  • You may be required to work overtime.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing investigations, reviews, studies, analyses, of the command's operations that provide an independent, in-house means of detecting inefficiencies and improprieties. Experience reviewing and providing advice on command policies and procedures, paying particular attention to evidence of valid audit trails, separation of duties and other internal controls. Experience ensuring internal efforts align operational requirements, including compliance with established policy, personnel management, budget oversight, program planning and execution of funds. Experience inspecting, investigating or inquiring into reported matters of fraud, waste, abuse, and related improprieties. Experience providing assistance to auditors of the Naval Audit Service, General Accounting Office, Navy Inspector General, and/or other external audit agencies to perform continuous, periodic or special audits. Experience articulating findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner (orally and in writing) in the form of briefings to provide managers and supervisors with a useful tool for defining and managing programs.
