This position is located in the northern part of Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, with the duty station in Fort Smith, Montana. The purpose of this position is to serve as the site supervisor and operations manager for all maintenance activities occurring within the north unit. Duties

The major duties of the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor position include, but are not limited to, the following: Responsible for working as a leader in communicating instructions and giving direction for field operations. Perform duties including mowing, groundskeeping, carpentry, utility systems maintenance and replacement, water system maintenance and monitoring, construction projects, and facility repair and maintenance. Incumbent will have exposure to unpleasant climate conditions, sustained physical effort including the use of hand tools, chainsaw, heavy equipment operation, and minor electrical maintenance and repair. Maintain landscapes and roadsides using multiple implements, heavy equipment such as a Bobcat, utility terrain vehicles (UTV's) and four-wheel drive vehicles. Travel to assist with park operations and project work at alternate locations within the park and Powder River Group parks.
