Duties

Serves as the principal office assistant performing oversight of key administrative and clerical duties in support of the Security Cooperation Accounting and FMS directorate. Performs a variety of administrative activities in support of the supervisor and office staff; to include but not limited to: purchasing office supplies, coordinating equipment problems, and maintaining equipment and inventories. Prepares and submits requisitions for office supplies, printing support, and related materials based upon personal assessment of office requirements. Defense Agency Initiative (DAI) timekeeping contact and surrogate. Ensures time and attendance data are maintained and prepared in accordance with established procedures. Corrects or tracks to resolution any timesheet errors made by employees. Make necessary arrangements for conferences and meetings within organization or with external accommodations and arranging for space, materials and supplies. Coordinates a variety of administrative program areas such as area security, standards of conduct; phone usage, installation and other controls; records management; publications and forms.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S Citizen or National.
  • Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959).
  • Suitable for Federal employment.
  • Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

  • Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Basic level Certification under the Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) Certification Program.
  • Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
  • A minimum typing proficiency of 40 WPM is required.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Must be able to type 40 words per minute to qualify. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-05) in the Federal Service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: providing administrative, technical and office automation support duties in support of the supervisor and office staff including, preparing correspondence; making travel arrangements; providing support and assistance on personnel, supply, training, and budget reporting and processes; utilizing office automation to create, retrieve, update, manipulate and store electronic data; and preparing, editing and formatting documents and reports. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in Federal Service.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Successful completion ofSix (6) months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when education is directly related to the position being filled. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)
