The purpose of the position is to perform a variety of duties in the General Engineering field and to complete developmental assignments and
training outlined in the formal training and developmental plan.
Duties
Employee carries out recurring assignments independently; Conducts successive activities with objectives and priorities identified by supervisor or team leader; assistance given on new or unusual projects or situations. Finished work is reviewed to ensure accuracy and technical soundness.
DUTY 1- The position provides entry level experience test engineering and planning in the area of flight dynamics, avionics, armament, sensor and electronic warfare systems applied to modeling and simulation techniques used for real-time, constructive and/or live interactive systems. Performs
general engineering work in support of conventional projects or portions of larger projects and programs under the guidance of a senior engineer. The incumbent must apply judgment in the independent application of the professional methods and techniques previously learned. Executes a
variety of developmental duties designed to develop knowledge and skill in applying general engineering principles, methods and techniques. Performs general engineering tasks of limited scope and difficulty which are screened by a higher grade engineer. Carries out developmental assignments
of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established, and a number of specific guidelines exist. Work assignments consisting of a series of specific and related tasks have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic occupational principles, concepts and
techniques. Assignments are combined with training to further develop analytical skills, crew positional knowledge and techniques in the occupation. Assistance in problem solving is available from the supervisor or a higher-graded specialist.
DUTY 2- Plans and carries out the collection and analysis of information, data and standards used by the assigned organization to perform general engineering tasks. Researches problems and issues to identify cause, and develops solutions which take into consideration the methods and techniques of various professional engineering disciplines. Performs regular and recurring assignments. Independently performs work assignments which gradually increase in difficulty and complexity. The employee determines the practices and procedures to use in accomplishing conventional tasks and interprets and adapts guidelines in order to resolve procedural or factual issues. Recommends solutions or a course of action for problems not covered by instructions, policies, or accepted practices of the occupation. The work consists of different or unrelated General Engineering
processes and methods requiring the employee to recognize conditions and elements that must be identified, analyzed and evaluated to discern interrelationships.
DUTY 3- Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the intern's training and development. Such assignments include the development of written summaries and reports to be used by higher level engineers, contractors and/or customers; leading teams of co-workers in
completion of a conventional project; serving as a team member on large, complex studies; etc. Uses a wide range of engineering manuals, standard publications and technical material to obtain information, analyze data and prepare reports. Presents briefings or presentations on findings, which may require gaining senior officials' acceptance of proposed solutions. Uses engineering manuals, standard publications and technical material to obtain information and pertinent data to be used by higher level engineers, contractors and/or customers. Utilizes computers/computer software such as analysis tools and project tracking programs to solve engineering problems and facilitate work.
DUTY 4- Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to maintain current in the field and for application to work assignments. Uses computers/computer software such as analysis tools and project tracking programs to solve engineering problems and facilitate work. Carries out special projects and assignments for higher-level general engineers, contractors and/or customers. Researches and utilizes a wide range of manuals, standard publications and technical material to obtain information, analyze data, and prepare reports. Keeps abreast of emerging
technologies and professional developments to maintain current in thefield and for application to work assignments.

Qualifications
INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
1. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2)include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of general engineering policies, theories, principles and concepts, and familiarity with other engineering disciplines to carry out conventional engineering assignments.
2. Ability to analyze, interpret and apply general engineering rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions to senior engineers.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
4. Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications.
