The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a Work Leader in the Vista Clearing operation and during Headwall/Rockwall rehabilitation.

Duties

Work leads are responsible for daily work plans, safety meetings and project completion. Leaders will supervise and coordinate the clearing of vegetation in steep rocky terrain using chainsaws and associated safety gear. Work Leads will coordinate with tree workers to remove hazard trees along the road by developing a work plan for subordinate staff which will include traffic control, chipping tree limbs, bucking up and clearing down trees. Work leads are also responsible for assigning tasks for mowing operations and a large amount of string trimming. They will assist masonry workers and equipment operators to clear ditches, repoint rock walls, cleaning drop inlets, and string trimming around drop inlet covers.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints)Ability To Lead Or SuperviseAbility To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyVehicle OperationWork Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) SCREEN OUT: Have experience independently leading or supervising work crews in grounds maintenance operations and perform laboring work with the crews. Provide instruction to crews on job requirements, lead/direct day to day operations, and track progress/inform supervisors of completed tasks. Safely operate motor vehicles up to one ton capacity with manual or automatic transmissions and associated towed equipment to load, haul, dump, spread, stockpile materials, transport personnel to worksites and perform routine operator maintenance on vehicles/equipment. Safely and expertly lead/operate grounds mowing equipment (zero turn, front deck/conventional mowers, weed eaters, garden tractors) and chainsaws. Direct flagging and road signage operations following federal and state requirements. Independently follow oral and written instructions to complete work projects; I adhere to safety regulations. DRIVER'S LICENSE: This position requires that the incumbent possess a valid Driver's License.
