This position is located on the Pine Ridge Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center, Chadron NE. The incumbent serves as the Center Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) and will provide ON-SITE Mental Health Care services for all students. Duties

Conduct intake evaluations to assess a student’s mental health needs. Develop treatment plans for students who may have mental health problems. Maintain proper records to document patient treatment and follow up. Coordinate with other medical/mental health professionals to implement treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Must possess 1 year of experience as a licensed independent practitioner providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and young adults.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the job series listed below. Basic Requirement: GS-180-11: Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required. GS-185-11: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-11: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the majority of the following: Making appropriate referrals to community and other governmental agencies for services; coordinate mental health services; conducting psychosocial assessments and treatment interventions to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational and other diversified backgrounds; formulating treatment plan; implementing different types treatment in working with individuals, and groups who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical, and social problems to achieve treatment goals. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (coursework directly related to position being filled). OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate level education (beyond what is required for a master's degree, i.e., more than 36 semester hours leading to a Ph.D.). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
