The typical season is May through October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Duties

Duty Locations for these positions are: Yosemite National Park, CA Great Basin National Park, NV Crater Lake National Park, OR Operates and performs routine maintenance on various types of motor vehicles up to 10,000 pounds. Loads and unloads cargo, using appropriate tie-downs. Transports passengers and cargo on public roadways in various traffic, road and weather conditions. Performs duties such as cleaning toilets, maintenance, and groundwork. Performs minor carpentry repairs, simple plumbing repairs, simple electrical repair work, painting, and collecting trash. Operates various sizes of power and hand tools such as drills, hammers, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows (manual and power) and performs preventive maintenance on all tools. Physical Effort- Moderate physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs. Required to frequently lift items weighing over 50 pounds. Work may involve climbing of ladders, scaffolding, and working in and around power tools and equipment. Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work outside and is exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.

Have the ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator WG 5 without more than normal supervision. (Screen out). This includes work such as: Operating a variety of motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, material or equipment; and performing routine preventative maintenance on the vehicles and equipment. Loading and unloading cargo safely, using tie downs, straps, chains, etc. Transporting passengers and cargo on public roads, sometimes towing equipment. Performing routine maintenance work and grounds work; Cleaning and servicing chemical toilets, restrooms and other facilities; collecting trash; Performing minor carpentry repairs, simple plumbing repairs, simple electrical repair work, painting.
