About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Interagency Task Force South, C41 Systems Directorate, Customer Service Div., U.S. South Command, Key West, FL.

Duties

Serves as the organization expert and technical authority in hardware installation for telecommunications, radio communications, and sensory communication systems. Develops operating procedures and standardized methods related to equipment operations techniques and maintenance. Plans, organizes, and directs studies on communications and advises top-level agency telecommunications and subject-matter managers on applying new developments. Provides guidance to operating-level telecommunications managers on matters such as the application of new technology activity systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.

Specialized experience is defined as experience with 1) installing and troubleshooting hardware for telecommunication networks in an operating environment, such as, tactical /non-tactical radar systems, sensor communication architectures, handheld or manpack radio networks; or sensor communication systems; and 2) providing guidance on security policies, installation, and/or maintenance procedures for telecommunication network systems. In addition to the specialized experience listed above, your resume must also show you have Information Technology-related experience.Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT and should include information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined below: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide. 3. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
