All members of the New Mexico Army National Guard or current Active Duty/Reserve military members eligible and wiling to become members of the New Mexico Army National Guard This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1297000 and is part of the NM MATES, National Guard.

Duties

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), SurfaceMaintenance Facility. The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination ofsubordinate work activities and functions. Participates with management officials in the planningand establishment of long-range work requirements and schedules. Serves as the highest-levelsubject matter expert in the organization for work accomplished. Work activities and functions aretypically controlled through two or more levels of supervision. The occupation and non-supervisorygrade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is SurfaceMaintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-11.

Requirements

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Officer (O-3 and above), Warrant Officer (CW3) Compatible Military Assignments: 915, 919, and 90A SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
