This position will be that of a Maintenance Worker supporting Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park. Needs to have a working knowledge of how a Water Wheel is operated using a series of lifts, spill ways, and board dams. Needs to understand maintenance required on a Water Wheel. Will maintain spill ways to be sure spill ways are free of debris and other objects operating a small water craft. Operating a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) as necessary for trash and landscaping duties.

Duties

Duties include custodial, laborer, and assisting with maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, walkways, exterior structures, and related utilities. The incumbent will need elementary knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance such as cutting grass with push/riding mowers, weed eaters, and pruners, as well as carpentry, plumbing work, painting interior and exterior surfaces, and janitorial services, including cleaning sinks, toilets, sweeping and mopping floors, and ensuring that there are adequate supplies of soap, towels, and toilet paper for a public restroom.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) (job element 1) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. (2-E) Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). (25-E) Use of measuring instruments. (60) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading). (75-A) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. (SCREEN OUT): experience included basic maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, walkways, exterior structures, campgrounds, and related utilities in at least two or more trade practices such as: masonry, carpentry, gardening, plumbing, roofing, and painting. I can perform custodial and maintenance duties on buildings, grounds and facilities under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker to make sure they are properly completed. I am able to with some assistance lift, carry, and set up equipment and materials that weigh up to or over 50 pounds unassisted. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection.
