Carpenter in the Facilities Management Service of the West Palm Beach VAMC. Will be assigned as a full journeymen Carpenter for this Medical Center.
Duties
Major duties included (but not limited to):
Significant knowledge in reading and understanding symbols on blueprints, drawings and sketches.
Inspect the equipment before operating to be sure all safety devices and attachments has not been tampered with and that all are in place and functioning according to the manufacture specifications.
Works with solid and hollow materials and synthetic products such as plastic laminates.
Knowledge of wood and wood substitute materials and construction techniques.
Skilled in operation of general and precision carpentry, woodworking and equipment
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am to 3:30pm Tour subject to change based on the needs of the facility

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Heavy physical effort is required as an Operator consistently reaching, bending, turning, use of hands, feet, arms, and legs to handle different sets of controls in order to operate the equipment and its attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment. The incumbent may be required to work in awkward or strained positions that require more effort. The operator may have to leave the equipment several times in doing certain tasks that may require the operator to climb in and out more than usual. This position requires many hours on your feet walking, standing, leaning, climbing, silting, bending, stretching, and kneeling, carrying, climbing ladders, holding, and placing. Incumbent shall be able to execute work duties in weather conditions and at temperatures usually experienced in this geographic area. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
