THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a COMMAND AND CONTROL SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD1491000 and is part of the TN 134th ARW, Air National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 114 (Smoky Mountain Chapter).

Duties

As a COMMAND AND CONTROL SPECIALIST, GS-2101-09, (TITLE 32) you will transmit instructions to aircrews and support assets to coordinate launch, recall, execution, and terminating missions in support of operational events. Gather information for Operational Reporting (OPREP) regarding significant events or incidents involving personnel and wing assets that require reporting to HHQ, Contingency Operations, significant peacetime events, and state emergency situations. Dictate which methodology and systems are to be used in tracking diverse aircraft mission movement. Submit flight plans and coordinates changes to FAA via Aeronautical Information System (AIS) or voice systems to support flying (mission)operations. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
• For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
• Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
• Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-1 through E6 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training in following directives and regulations; experience interpreting and applying published directives or regulations. Experience communicating with others. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade; experience, education, or training in mission planning for preflight, in-flight, ground or command and control (C2) duties according to specific transportation functions. Experience receiving, interpreting, extracting, and disseminating relevant data for mission planning or execution. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems.
