This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is a temporary position not to exceed 120 days with the possibility to be extended up to an additional year, not to exceed a total appointment of 36 months. New Hampshire Wage Range: $17.48-$20.37 per hour Vermont Wage Range: $17.60-$20.52 per hour

Duties

Load and unload trucks. Move and stack material by hand, wheelbarrow or hand trucks. Shovel and haul earth, gravel, rock, sand, concrete and asphalt. Cut brush and grass. Trim hedges, trees and bushes. Clean up rubbish around the area and in surrounding buildings. Repair fences. Maintain recreational areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may require working in varying conditions inside and outside for long periods of time.
  • This position may require working rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • This position requires having a valid state drivers license or being able to obtain and maintain a valid state drivers license within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects that weigh 40 lbs.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) Ability to do the work of a(n) Laborer without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Laborer duties to include: the ability to maintain the various public use facilities such as general roads, beaches, trails, picnic and camping areas, parking areas, restrooms, offices, and garages. The ability to repair fences, assist in mixing concrete by hand or machine and spreads, rolls, and compact material with appropriate tools. The ability to maintain grounds and buildings, to include cleaning, scraping, and chipping paint, minor repairs, and maintenance activities - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: The laborer exerts heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as lifting and moving heavy objects weighing 40 pounds, running power mowers on grades, and pushing heavy loads on a wheelbarrow. Working Conditions: The incumbent works usually outside and is subjected to all kinds of weather. Incumbent may be required to work on or near the water where immersion is possible. Incumbent works around and with moving equipment and is subject to noise and some fumes. The equipment, tools, and tasks involved at this level frequently require special care to avoid serious injuries.
