About the Position: This is a Supervisory Contract Specialist GS-1102-13 position with the Mission Installation Contracting Command located at Fort Carson, CO.
Duties
Reviews milestones for formal procurement plans and monitors progress of sub-ordinates to assure timely expenditure of funds and accomplishment of mission.
Evaluates program effectiveness by review of reports, discussion with employees, and observation.
Interviews candidates for positions and make recommendations/selections for appointments, promotions, and reassignments.
Resolves difficult procurement and negotiation problems encountered by subordinates involving unprecedented matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Acquisition certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.
- One year probationary period to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties may be required unless previously completed.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as; 1) Assigning tasks to personnel according to the complexity of the assignment; 2) Advising Contracting Officers on administering and documenting of contract files; and 3) Utilizing contracting writing systems to upload contracting data, Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) and other systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
