Duties

Major duties include, but are not limited, to the following: Provide communication service and support for Law Enforcement activities. Operate Geospatial Information System(s) (GIS) to obtain and evaluate geographic information and imagery related to unit boundaries, land status and ownership, topographic information. Maintain full on-site access to and performs computerized investigations and searches utilizing the following systems: Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and National Law Enforcement telecommunications system (NLETS). Serve as a public emergency nexus for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), National Parks Service (NPS), United States Fish and Wildlife Services (FWS) and the United States Forest Service (USFS).

  • Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination for a Secret Security Clearance.

  • This position requires regular and recurring overtime and shift work.
  • This position requires a qualified typist, able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • An applicant appointed to this position must possess (or obtain within 30 days of entrance on duty) and maintain a valid state driver's license while employed in this position.
  • May require a one year probationary trial one year period.
  • This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. You will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use and pass prior to appointment. This position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
  • A Valid Drives License is Required for this position.
  • You cannot hold an active real estate license; nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Land.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-8 position you must have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Providing logistical support to emergency responders. Evaluating data from Criminal Justice Information Systems to prepare reports for investigators. Operating land mobile and satellite radios to communicate geographic positions of law enforcement officers. NOTE: The contents of your resume must support this response. -AND- You must possess the ability to type 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors per five minute sample. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: While work is primarily sedentary, Overtime Shift work are considerations of this position.
