This position is located in Yellowstone National Park, in the Maintenance Division. This position is permanent full-time.

Duties

The primary function of this position is to repair, modify and manufacture parts for all types of equipment used in Yellowstone National Park. This includes but is not limited to all types of vehicles and heavy mobile equipment, large rotary snowplows, trailers, boats, snowmobile tow sleds, barricades, ornamental gates, waste water treatment plants, railings, ADA ramps, livestock enclosures, back country stock bridges, dumpsters, roll off dumpsters, etc. Operates vertical milling machine and lathe to fabricate complex parts out of raw stock of different metals, metal alloys and other materials. This includes one-of-a-kind pins, bushings, nonstandard threaded and splined shafts with keyways, mounting plates, gears, etc. Designs and cuts parts to be machined with CNC plasma table. Machine custom tools to assist heavy mobile mechanics with repairs. Metal fabrication and repair including CNC plasma cutting, bandsaw cutting, drilling, grinding, and welding. This includes but is not limited to all types of vehicles and heavy mobile equipment, large rotary snow plows, snow groomers, trailers, boats, snowmobile tow sleds, barricades, gates, wastewater treatment plants, railings, ADA ramps, livestock enclosures, back country bridges, dumpsters, and roll off dumpsters. Lays out work and determines best methods and techniques for any given job. Orders all metals of the correct type and quantity required for each job. Maintains the metal shop and orders all necessary consumables.
