The Primary Purpose of this Position is: To serve as work leader in the File Room of Health Information Management Service (HIMS) leading the work of 12 File Clerks (GS-305-04) in Dallas, 1 File Clerk (GS-0305-04) in Fort Worth, and I File Clerk (GS-0305-04) in Bonham.
Duties
Duties to include but not limited to:
Lead and oversees the performance of duties related to the transfer of transcribed reports from a word processing environment to CPRS.
Performs related duties such as receipt, intake; scanning, indexing, and destruction of health and administrative information.
Performs all operations i.e, retrieval or transfer medical records, record tracking, scanning processes and other programs.
Respond to customers' needs in a positive and efficient manner.
Corrects patient records when mistakes are made by employees and notates such corrections through productivity reports.
Monitors the timeliness and accuracy of the transmission of data. Perform monthly spot checks on work performance and productivity.
Spread workflow among employees so that it is evenly distributed. Adjust work assignments as needed to cover peak periods, leave, and vacancies. Maintain workload and productivity reports for the unit.
Perform on a regular and recurring basis, related duties such as receipt, intake, scanning, indexing, destruction, and transfer of health and administrative information throughout the VANTHCS and to other VA facilities.
Operate a personal computer (PC) and utilize common electronic mail, word processing and spreadsheet software applications as well as
numerous unique software applications and platforms such as VistA and CPRS applications in the performance of daily duties.
Follows SOP in use of the scanning software in order to program information into the system.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Maintain workload and productivity reports.
Administratively corrects patient records when mistakes are made by employees and notates such corrections through productivity reports.
Operates a personal computer and utilize common electronic mail, scanning documents, word processing and spreadsheet software applications.
Performs all operations i.e, retrieval or transfer medical records, record tracking and scanning processes.
Operates numerous unique software applications and platforms i.e. VistA and CPRS applications daily.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have To qualify based on education for this grade level you must possess 4 years above high school-Bachelors Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED).

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education. The applicant must has 9 months of specialized experience and 75 semester hours of college (15 semester hours beyond the second year and the equivalent of 3 months of specialized experience). The applicant meets 75 percent of the required experience and 25 percent of the required education. The applicant meets 100 percent of the requirement for 1 year of specialized experience and is qualified for the position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary; however, some bending, stretching, walking, and lifting are required. Boxes of records must be packed and lifted for shipment. Carts are available.
