This position is located in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Office of Andean Affairs. The incumbent serves as a Foreign Affairs Officer that advances U.S. objectives vis-à-vis Colombia.

Duties
Serves as point of contact for incoming actions regarding the geographic area of assignment Colombia from Departmental offices, U.S. embassies/posts, other U.S. government (USG) agencies, non-governmental organizations, or other sources.
Develops and proposes resolutions of policy and procedural issues and coordinates implementation of policy decisions.
Serves as liaison with the governmental and non-governmental communities to inform and to explain U.S. policies and to promote U.S. foreign policy goals.
Drafts and clears analytical products with relevant Department Bureaus/Offices and other organizations.

Qualifications

IN ADDITION to the basic requirements, this position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience analyzing foreign programs or policy information, developing options, and articulating recommendations to decisionmakers.
Experience liaising with organizations/officials/individuals on issues related to foreign affairs.
Experience drafting briefing material, talking points, or public statements for leadership or senior officials.
