About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 81st Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site 63, Storage Branch, Fort Knox. KY This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Duties

Operate a variety of diesel and gasoline powered equipment such as generators, wheeled/track vehicles and semi-trailer combinations. Operate various types of forklifts and equipment to complete loading, unloading, warehousing, and preparing equipment and supplies for transport. Transport equipment that may be oversized or overweight. Ensure load weights are properly distributed and secured. Take oil samples and prepares them for shipment. Service vehicle braking systems and lights. Preform preventative maintenance checks and services. Receive incoming warehouse items and equipment and check them for damage and serviceability. Issues and stores equipment in the warehouse. Prepares various accountability documents and warehouse reports.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
  • This position requires a Class A CDL within 90 days of employment.
  • This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.

To meet the Screen-out Element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: perform common operation of gasoline powered equipment and warehousing tasks; operate wheeled vehicles to include forklifts; perform preventive maintenance to include checking fluid levels and tire pressure; and perform basic warehousing tasks. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) and Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Operation of Motor VehiclesWork Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort Required: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Works at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Subject to working outdoors during periods of inclement weather. Is exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
