About the Position: This position is located at Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River, Department of Resource Management on the Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Patuxent River, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Provide technical guidance, advice, and work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, and custody of cash items. Determine signature authentication, correct processing codes, and to include operation of cash registers. Examine payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government. Answer requests to employees, supervisors, and other staff personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures. Initiate collections not related to pay and leave, maintain retirement records, or process health benefit forms. Post, examine, balance, compute, and extract data from records to prepare reports. Perform technician work in support of budget analysis and administration.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position requires to obtain and maintain a Financial Management Level 1 Certification within 24 months of employment.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing financial documents for accuracy, utilizing automated accounting systems to enter and retrieve financial data, assisting with budget and/or payroll activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Finance or Accounting. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.
