This position is located in the Division of Public Health Nursing, at Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The purpose of this position is to provide for the overall development, implementation, coordination and direction of Gallup Indian Medical Center Immunization Clinic.
Duties

Organize, direct, and implement the Immunization Program in accordance with the current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Responsible for providing oversight for all vaccine management and ensuing all vaccines are stored, handled, transported, and inventoried correctly.
Orders vaccine for children, adolescent, and adults from the pharmacy department.
Maintain an electron inventory and verifies vaccine and supplies are received.
Monitor temperature and mechanical indicators for vaccine storage for refrigerators and freezers, ensuring compliance of vaccine storage which includes follow up by checking and recording temperature settings.
Compile report monthly to include inventory, temperature monitoring, provide certification reports, vaccine order, wastage reports and excursion reports.
Compile data from Patient Management systems and reports data quarterly to the National Immunization Registry System.
Provide training and education to all staff related to immunization issues and vaccine preventable diseases.
Assist with disease outbreak investigations.
Maintain adequate supply and inventory of support material.
Initiate and maintain quality assurance and performance improvement mechanisms for immunizations.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing. A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-10 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing.
Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) Grade Level: In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; -OR-
At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-10 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: administering, coordinating, and directing varied clinical nursing activities.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
