This position is established in the VAMC Tomah, WI providing administrative support in the Performance Improvement Section of the Office of the Director.
Duties
Major Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist with implementing internal review systems to assure activities are in compliance with agency and accrediting regulatory requirements;
Screen microbiology results for healthcare-associated infections and reportable communicable diseases, assigns occurrence screens, prepares hand hygiene and MDRO data for submission;
Participate in proactive risk assessment activities as assigned;
Identify problems and routes concerns through appropriate channels
Collect data and develop trending sheets and/or graphs for the display of pattern data;
Identify grammatical and formatting deficiencies prior to collating multi-departmental submissions into a cohesive document for facility and VISN leadership;
Provide backup coverage for the Performance Improvement Program Secretary (GS-5) and Performance Improvement Program Specialist (GS-9) including timekeeping and travel; and
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary at a desk and workstation area. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers, reports, files, or possibly moving computer equipment. May stand to greet visitors and escort people to meeting areas. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: provide support to the Performance Improvement Director/Risk Manager, the Infection Control Officer, and the MDRO program in data collection, validation, and preparation of reports; provide technical support and administrative services to te facility Performance Improvement, Regulatory Compliance, Infection Control, and Multi-drug Resistant Organism (MDRO) programs; and utilize all Microsoft Office software for the completion of assigned work.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
