Duties

1. Manages Security Forces squadron equipment. 2. Analyzes the combat readiness of the squadron through evaluation of training and equipment. 3. Manages day-to-day Security Forces budget activities including tracking funds distribution, reconciling commitments/obligations, and reallocating organizational funds. 4. Manages the government credit card.

  • Employee may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to allow full participation in all integrated base defense, security, resource protection, and anti-terrorism program exercises.

  • This position requires a pre-employment physical/medical examination.

Qualifications

This is a Temp position NTE 12 MTHS; the individual selected for this position may be non-competitively extended without further competition. Current Federal civilian employees may apply for this position using "Reinstatement" eligibility and if selected, a break in service of at least 4 calendar days may be required prior to appointment to this position. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the Security Clerical and Assistance Series, 0086. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: CURRENT AND PRIOR FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. EXTERNAL APPLICANTS: must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-6, or equivalent in other pay systems Examples of specialized experience includes: practical knowledge of security and force protection principles, concepts, policies, practices, and methods to ensure accurate assessment of funding and equipment requirements to meet operational needs and practical knowledge in the specialty areas of physical security, operational security, and electronic security systems in order to work and resolve questions, issues, and conditions affecting the acquisition and sustainment of base physical security and squadron mission equipment. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. Current and Prior Federal Employees: One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. External Applicants: One year at the GS-6 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a range of security forces policies (i.e. physical, operational, electronic security), procedures, and practices. 2. Knowledge of overall security forces missions, functions, and structure. 3. Knowledge of a wide range of budgetary methods, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and precedents. 4. Knowledge of automated data management systems. 5. Ability to conduct surveys, assessments, and evaluations of SF equipment inventory utilization to determine unit combat readiness and the return on investment value for future management decisions. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
