You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (HAZMAT OPS/ EMT INTERMEDIATE) in the Navy Fire and Emergency Services Department of NAVAL AIR STATION FALLON.
Duties
You will perform structural firefighting duties for facilities to minimize fire damage.
You will employ hazardous materials response procedures and equipment to mitigate hazardous materials incidents.
You will operate diagnostic medical equipment (e.g., EKG machines, blood pressure devices) to interpret readings and identify medical treatment needed.
You will drive an emergency vehicle (e.g., ambulance, rescue, engine, aerial apparatus) to an emergency services incident.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- May be required to participate on Hazardous Materials Teams (HAZMAT).
- May be required to perform duties associated with the operation of aircraft arresting barrier equipment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing rescue operations; 2) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 3) Controlling hazardous material incidents; and 4) Employing established emergency medical techniques, methods, and equipment to stabilize patients for support.
This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-08: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate and NR-EMT. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
