This position is part of the Idaho Operations Office, Department of Energy. As an Information Technology Specialist, duties will include Project Management, Infrastructure, Planning and Security duties, as trained and assigned.

Duties

This position as promotion potential to the GS-2210-13. This position will be filled at either the GS-12 or the GS-13 grade level. At the lower grade levels, the selectee will perform assignments under closer supervision than that required at the full performance level of a GS-13. Qualifications

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the above, applicants must meet the following GS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : For GS-12: Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities/competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as TWO OF THE THREE 1)Providing feedback on the technologies, techniques and tools to configure deploy and maintain Tactical Local Area Network Encryption devices. 2)Provide technical assistance in development, implementation and administration of assigned information management system activities. 3) Testing and maintaining network infrastructure including software and hardware to ensure sound security principles GS-13 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : For GS-13: Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities/competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as TWO OF THE THREE 1) Coordinating development and implementation of policies and standards for classified network systems regarding sharing and safeguarding classified information. 2) Provide technical oversight in development, implementation and administration of assigned information management system activities. 3)Identify new and emerging concepts, technologies, techniques and tools to configure deploy and maintain Tactical Local Area Network Encryption devices. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
