Duties

The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work. The occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: ENLISTED ONLY GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, do you have at least 36 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Other Requirements - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts weights up to 80 pounds such as generators, engine starters, and ejection seats with the assistance of weight handing equipment or other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps; engine noise, heat, blast, intake suction, rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3.
