About the Position: This position is with the 416th Theater Engineer Command, 416th Mission Support Element located in Darien, Illinois.
Duties
Establish Public Affairs program to support United States Army Reserve (USAR) program
Write public involvement plans
Prepare visual materials and coordinate still photography
Provide audiovisual advice for Command
Manage public appearance program and Command Speakers Bureau
Plan Ceremonies for official command functions
Review speeches and manuscripts for public release
Write news releases for local and national print and broadcast media representatives
Manage budget for public affairs office
Develop annual budget for office projects
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in public affairs programs; conducting media marketing analysis; projecting budget requirements; writing and reviewing press releases; prepares visual materials and coordinates still photography, video coverage at various events and locations, maintaining relationships with local media representatives; and writing and reviewing articles for release; and assisting Public Affairs professionals with technical guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Communication.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
