This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Providing oversight of inventory, resolving supply issues; planning for and developing requirements and program guidance, and resolving problems in supply support operations.
Ensuring the materials handling equipment is inspected on a scheduled basis, maintained and operated in a safe condition; recommending changes, and the implementation of new operating procedures to improve productivity, safety, and security.
Inspecting the work being performed by subordinates to ensure both accuracy and timeliness in the carrying out of work assignments.
Carrying out personnel management responsibilities such as setting and adjusting short-term priorities; preparing schedules for completion of work; assigning work to subordinates based on priorities.
Evaluating performance; counseling, training, and advising subordinates on work and administrative matters.
Resolving complaints from employees, taking necessary disciplinary action and/or referring complex or unresolved complaints to higher-level supervisor.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee may be required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a High Risk (Public Trust) background investigation.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Report may be required.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Supervisory Distribution Facilities Specialist, PG - 2030 - 11, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-09 grade level in the Federal Service that includes:
1) Providing oversight of inventory control and accountability.
2) Providing supply support to meet production needs and deadlines and resolving supply issues.
3) Inspecting the work being performed to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the carrying out of work assignments.
4) Counseling, training, and advising on work and administrative matters.
OR
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may be used.
Applicants can qualify with a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
