This position is located at US Mint,Denver Mint - MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT/ Plant Manager CO. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will be performing work involved in establishing and maintaining communications between Federal agencies, the general public, and various pertinent publics including internal, external, foreign or domestic audiences.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Plan, design, develop, and disseminate public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public about Departmental programs.
Perform computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division correctly using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Use imagination to develop new insights into situations and applies innovative solutions to problems; designs new methods where established methods and procedures are not applicable or are unavailable.
Develop and conduct presentations for the general public and community groups to include but not limited to on-site tours, presentations at schools and civic groups, as well as virtual and in-person events.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Applying the principles and methods of written and oral communication; AND
-Experience with using online publishing software, social media or multimedia tools as communications strategies; AND
-Participating in conducing tours as a tour guide, planning, designing, developing, and disseminating public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Attach a copy of transcripts or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Drafting, editing, scheduling, monitoring, and responding to social media posts; AND
- Writing articles; addressing customer service questions via phone and email
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education OR Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class), grade point average (2.95/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major) OR Election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-09 you must have been at the GS-07level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-07 you must have been at the GS-05level for 52 weeks.
Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
