About the Position: This Medical Record Technician (Suitability Screening Clerk/Office Automation) position supports the Naval Health Clinic in Quantico, VA. Serves as Medical Records Record Technician, responsible for the screening of medical records for military members and dependents assigned to Marine Corp Embassy Security Group. Reviews medical records for adverse information that may potentially disqualify candidates not deemed qualified for program.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
Provide service members with all applicable forms assists them and their family members with obtaining any required information and documents.
Respond to suitability careening inquiries via available means to include telephone and encrypted email.
Assist in scheduling appointments for any necessary examinations, screenings, tests or immunizations.
Keep accountability of records and coordinating and directing members for medical stand-downs.
Track participants referrals and medical follow up care.
Coordinate with the deployment health clinic and dental clinic for continuity of care.
Ensure the accountability and custody and control of all medical records.
Contact other healthcare facilities to obtain additional medical/dental information and records.
Record and maintain an up-to-date suitability screening program as directed by the department or command leadership.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a qualified typist.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for a security clearance.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing and/or screening patients medical records; utilizing office software such as (Microsoft word, Excel, and Power Point) to create documents; and reviewing medical forms to ensure their completion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
