This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), in the VA Medical Center (VAMC) of Hampton, Virginia. The position serves as a Motor Vehicle Dispatcher located in the Motor Pool Office which is part of Grounds and Transportation, Environmental Management Service. The purpose of this position is to provide a full range of transportation services for medical facility employees and veterans.

Duties

Establishes priorities, works under pressure and with close schedules to meet the needs of Veterans and staff in a timely manner through the proper utilization of an over I00 vehicle fleet. Schedules and dispatches drivers and vehicles for patient transportation. Schedules and dispatches vehicles for medical center staff to include assigning vehicles based on length and purpose of trip, and passenger requirements; checking driver credentials; issuing keys and record sheets; ensuring trip information is recorded; and investigates overdue vehicles. Plans, schedules and records vehicle repairs and preventative maintenance actions. Coordinates vehicle repairs with the GSA Maintenance Coordinator to ensure vehicles are kept to a high standard of readiness. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/31/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
