About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for managing and administering the Safety and Occupational Health (S&OH) program. The position is eligible for situational telework. This position is NOT a full-time telework position.

Duties

Establishes the Safety and Occupational Health program according to Federal regulations. Plans, schedules, and establishes priorities of work. Renders professional advice on hazards and precautionary actions associated with a wide variety of projects. Develops and manages the operation of the Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene Programs. Recommends or issues District policy or regulatory solutions to technical and managerial problems affecting the execution of the District mission. Establishes the Safety and Occupational Health education and training program requirements and oversees execution. Develops or reviews scopes of work for contracts. Manages surveys, inspections, evaluations, studies, audits, and accident investigations and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications GS-13: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing Safety & Occupational Health support to an organization, including performance of activities such as risk assessments and surveys, hazards analysis, organization safety training, and ensuring operations or contractor compliance with safety guidance and regulations; Surveillance over safety program to ensure elimination and control of hazards where deficiencies are found; and supervision and/or leadership experience, or experience directing or leading teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-13, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
