The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.

Duties

This Information Technology Specialist provides user training on routine hardware, software, and internet applications along with the following functions: Attending meetings in which customers identify and describe IT requirements for office and legal applications. Maintaining and controlling equipment inventories. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located in Brooklyn, New York, focusing in the areas of configuring commonly used hardware and software systems. Typical work assignments will include: Explaining web page requirements to content developers. Maintaining IT systems security documentation. Using established procedures to manipulate and presenting data in various formats for use in litigation. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Individual Occupational requirements as noted below. To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying: Individual Occupational requirements You must have information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies: 1) Attention to Detail - Follow technical documentation methods and procedures. 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to troubleshoot IT related issues. 3) Oral Communication - Expresses technical information to nontechnical individuals or groups effectively -AND- 4) Problem Solving - Assisting to identify IT related problems. (This experience must be displayed on your resume/supporting documents.) -AND- To qualify at the GS-05 level, you must possess: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) two (2) of the three (3) duties listed below: Providing user support for day-to-day computer information systems; Configuring commonly used hardware and software systems; and Troubleshooting recurring hardware and software problems. OR Possess four academic years of education above the high school level (e.g. Bachelor's degree) in a closely related field (e.g., computer science, information systems management, technology management), or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
