This position serves as a Management and Program Analyst in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Region, Office of Policy, International Affairs & Environment (APL), National Engagement & Regional Administration (ARA). This position directly supports and reports to the Director, New York Area Program Integration Office (NYAPIO). This position provides a wide range of administrative and program support for a variety of projects associated with the Special Programs Office.

Duties

Under the general direction of the NYAPIO manager, performs a variety of administrative support programs such as FOIA, records management, property inventory and annual data calls. Assists with the regional programs and other special events. Coordinates travel plans, manages calendar and schedules Director's meetings, including participants from multiple internal and external groups. Collects and organizes documentation for all meetings and ensures detailed itineraries are completed, briefing materials are ready and follow-up actions are tracked. Provides administrative support on work groups and participates on special programs as identified by the Director. Coordinates visitors, ensuring visit materials are available, and appropriate staff members are available for support. Ensures detailed itineraries are complete and briefing materials are ready. Typically receives guidance on appropriate approaches from the manager. Gathers and manages data from a variety of sources for analysis. Prepares reports, briefing notes, minutes and/or information specific to the needs and knowledge of the target audience. Supports project meetings and period reviews involving a wide variety of stakeholders. Processes special assignments of a confidential nature discretely, ensuring information and actions are accurate, timely, applicable, maintained on a need-to-know basis, and securely stored. Ensures NYAPIO office Vital Records are current, and back-up copies are maintained. Applies experience and detailed knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and accomplish assignments. Typical assignments may include: collecting and analyzing data/information; conducting research; applying policies and procedures; identifying problems; and working with higher-level and lower-level professionals in day-to-day operations. Demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish tasks or small projects. Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit, major subdivision, or LOB/SO and with a manager and other employees, to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and/or explain the statuses of assignments. Refers problems and work issues to a manager or more experienced professional when guidelines are not available or applicable. Work typically is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness, policy compliance, and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-F, FG/GS-5-9 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include but is not limited to: Experience in identifying problems, gathering pertinent data, recommending solutions and conveying information to high levels of management.

Education

Substitution of Education:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

OR

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

OR

LL.M., if related.

Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Combination of education and experience may be qualifying for this position.
