Duties
Major duties
Works with customers and SCM staff on the proper identification of items to be substituted.
Communicates with customers to obtain information regarding availability and functionality of non-expend equipment.
Conducts periodic inventory assessments and discussions with service line staff and clinical personnel, identifies gaps and/or discrepancies and provides information on new or changed items and equipment
Provides guidance to customers on identification of material through research of original equipment manufacturers part catalog for part numbers, descriptions, and size of parts needed.
Performs research of old manufacturers code and part numbers, covering requisitioned material in support of jobs which have not occurred, or which did not utilize all the stock on hand to identify valid identification number.
Requests for National Stock Number, processes applicable catalog update transactions in accordance with current published procedures.
Periodically, reviews assigned manufacturers code and part numbers for continued validity and takes necessary action to update, delete, or dispose of in accordance with published guidelines.
Interacts with clinical and administrative customers to ensure issues and needs are identified and either resolved or escalated to supervisors or Inventory Management Specialists as needed.
Communicates to the lead or supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures, providing information as needed orally or in writing regarding customer or external stakeholder issues, general telephone inquiries and visitor referrals

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/21/2023.
GS-5 GRADE REQUIREMENTSSPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of standard supply management procedures to perform work involving inventory and excess material management; Knowledge related to stock rotation, hazard alerts and recalls to ensure outdated or otherwise compromised supplies and material are removed from usage area; interpret policies, procedures, manuals, and regulations pertaining to supply/inventory management and federal acquisition systems; knowledge of an automated inventory system to monitor issues and receipts in support of stock replenishment processes; knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, sufficient to enter information and manage supply inventory; Knowledge and general understanding of terminology and items related to specialty carts to ensure carts are built appropriately; knowledge of item descriptions, medical and surgical terminology established work methods, and recognized priorities of the clinical areas served.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Must have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial and technical school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Must possess a combination of specialized experience and successfully completed education as described above. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (i.e. 30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds).With proper assistance, moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. This level of physical demands occurs, for example, when employees are regularly assigned to activities such as tracing misplaced items or conducting physical inventories in warehouses, and other storage areas, or when they are regularly involved in stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.
