About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security - Flight Simulations on Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.
Duties
Performs the duties of Flight Simulator Training Instructor and/or Instrument Examiner (simulator only) utilizing motion and non-motion based AH-64 Flight Simulators.
Determines individual ability to perform duties as aviator/ instructor/examiner from a crew station with access to the aircraft controls and IAW AR 95-1 and the specific air crew training module.
Conducts instruction/evaluations in a manner that is purpose-oriented.
Instructs/evaluates rated active Army, National Guard, and Reserve component, as the Instrument Examiner (simulator only).
Provides constructive comments using approved methods of instruction based on uniform and standard objectives that are consistent with the unit's mission and strictly adhere to appropriate standard operating procedures and regulations.
Evaluates comprehension, retention, and application of procedures related to visual and instrument flight, tactical flight, helicopter gunnery, aircraft/weapons system operations, and limitations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Position requires incumbent to pass a pre-employment physical.
- Position requires the incumbent to work non-standard work hours (after regular duty hours and weekends) as necessary to accomplish mission objectives.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Instruct individuals and groups in classroom and flight simulators on flight techniques; and 2) Prepare lesson plans and training programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Education or Aeronautical Science.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
