This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating security cooperation activities with key members of DoD, including OSD, the Geographic Combatant Command (GCC), and Joint Staff as well as coordinating with member of the U.S. Interagency.
Duties
As a STUDENT SERVICES SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-7 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Provides organizational and individual career, academic, and force development advice to organizations representing military personnel of all ranks, civilian personnel, foreign military, other government agencies and departments, and US defense industry pursuing security cooperation (SC) professional development opportunities at senior, intermediate and clerical levels
Provides advice and enrollment assistance on all educational opportunities available through Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) via distance education, resident courses, or at customer locations
Prepares and conducts briefings for groups or units to promote SC educational programs
Completes required documentation and ensures information such as course enrollment ,courses completion, and educationallevels attained are entered in DSCU's student class scheduling system and the SC Workforce Database

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-07, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service:
Providing advice and enrollment assistance on all educational opportunities and classes
Completing requirement documentation on course enrollment and course completion OR
B. bachelor's degree AND I meet Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) which is based on: (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/). (Note: You must attach a copy of your official transcripts.); OR
C. Possess at least one full year of graduate level education. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work: OR
D. You have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and you have more than one year but less than two years of education as described in B. You have computed the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.)
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
Foreign education may be qualifying if a private organization specializing in interpreting foreign education programs has deemed the foreign education equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program or a U.S. accredited college or university has given full credit for the foreign courses.
Unofficial transcripts from U.S. Department of Education accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions listing your name, the name of the school, the date and degree awarded, and the list of classes and credits earned are acceptable for the application process. If selected, official transcripts are required before a firm job offer is made. A photocopy of your degree/diploma is not acceptable.
When relying on foreign education, submit transcripts and a copy of the equivalency evaluation results letter with a course-by-course listing.
