About the Position: Serves as administrative Assistant. Assists staff in resolving a variety of administrative problems requiring the application of various guidelines and coordination with the responsible functional staff office.
This position is located at: United States Army Engineer District, Buffalo Executive Office, Administrative Support, Buffalo, New York 14207.
NOTE: Applicants can be selected at either the GS-05, GS-06, or GS-07 level. The target grade of this position is GS-07.
Duties
Performs timekeeping and related duties using an automated reporting system which is linked to a financial management system.
Uses a variety of computer software to perform a wide range of word processing function such as correspondence, public notices, reports, and technical papers to support the work of the office.
Uses Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS) to generate monthly reports showing status and trends of command operating budget.
Serves as a payroll liaison between local payroll Customer Service Representative (CSR) and the Divisions/Offices in order to resolve payroll issues.
Coordinates travel arrangements and resolve discrepancies involving travel method, leave while on travel, overtime and reimbursement errors.
Prepares data for discussions in staff and/or management level meetings pertaining to human resources, administrative, and management functions of the Directorate.
Prepares clear and accurate verbal responses to general questions, provides information and applications packets, explains processes and procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The business travel requirement is 5%.

GS-05: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. General experience is defined as: Receiving, screening, and answering routine telephone calls and provides receptionist services to staff members and visitors. Establishing, organizing, and maintaining files of correspondence and other related information in accordance with agency regulatory policies and guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialize experience is defined as: Performing various clerical and administrative work such as preparing forms, documents or correspondence, reports, files, or other documents submitted by staff members; utilizing office automation software to update databases and run reports, maintaining tracking systems, managing a filing system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-07: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialize experience is defined as: Preparing and ensuring accuracy of time and attendance reports through an electronic time and attendance system; preparing/reviewing travel vouchers; serving as a timekeeper using an automated system; provide organizational support services for an organization such as preparing forms, documents, or correspondence, or responding to procedural questions from the staff members and public. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
