The Supervisory Housekeeping Aid position is located within the Environmental Management Service at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham NC. The Housekeeping Aid Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supervising the staffing, cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation of patient care, procedure rooms, resident rooms administrative, and public areas of the Medical Center.
Duties
Major Duties Include
Making independent decisions affecting subordinates employees and Medical Center staff and patient environment.
Operates with a very high degree of independence.
Visiting and participating in direct supervision of all staff and tours of duty.
Making changes and delegate supervisory coverage.
Performing a variety of duties and assignments related to the supervision of a group of housekeeping supervisors and housekeeping aids, performing custodial, janitorial, housekeeping and sanitation activities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Work Schedule: 7A-330P, 3P-1130P, 11P-730A Weekends and holidays rotate (Shift subject to change.)

Physical Requirements: Incumbent must do a great deal of walking, standing, bending, and climbing of stairs. Must be physically able to remain engaged in manual work requiring muscular effort. Visual acuity must be sufficient to see dust, dirt, cobwebs, etc.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
