Duties
You will assist with the development and administration of DON’s accounting and disbursing policies and procedures in accordance with guidelines issued by authoritative financial management organizations.
You will provide information about and interpret standard organizational budgetary and accounting practices and regulations.
You will perform specialized work involving managerial or administrative work in connection with accounting systems.
You will research guides to locate accounting, budgetary, and financial information and prepare summaries for use by managers.
You will coordinate corrective actions to resolve accounting and disbursing problems identified during review of financial systems and/or as the result of operational activities.
Requirements

- This is a Financial Management Level 1 certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to sign a mobility agreement to accept relocation to other geographic locations if required by the employer.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying program functions of budgetary policies, precedents, procedures, and regulations independently, in order to accomplish anticipated or actual dollar figures; 2) Compiles and utilizes budget information of auditing and accounting theories, techniques, and practices; 3) Applying generally accepted accounting practices to independently perform complex assignments and solve accounting problems; and 4) Exercising judgment to resolve commonly encountered work problems and deviations. Education
To be considered you must be a recent college graduate, awarded a degree by a qualifying educational institution not more than two years before the date of appointment (extended to four years before date of appointment for veterans who completed a period of obligated uniformed service of more than four years, and were awarded a degree by qualifying educational institution).
