As a Supervisory Management Analyst (Deputy Branch Chief) in the Science Mission Directorate's (SMD's) Policy Branch, you will be responsible for policies, procedures, schedules, resources, procurement, funding, and personnel requirements for the branch. You will lead a team of highly skilled policy professionals in supporting SMD's leadership in policy-related analysis and implementation, including managing the directorates relationships with key external stakeholders.
Duties
Defines jobs, selects employees, and assigns work. Recommends employee promotions and recognition. Approves leave, implements performance modifications, and takes corrective actions as appropriate.
Reviews work product of employees for quality and content, including analysis and interpretation of documents such as executive, legislative, or judicial papers, budget documents, or agency process requirements.
Advises management on revisions to existing agency policies and programs to meet requirements.
Develops and maintains relationships with various stakeholders within NASA, the federal government, private industry, and universities to further the various programs and projects.
Manages the internal and external operations of the branch to accomplish mission objectives and goals.
Provides strategic advice and guidance on broad projects and science programs.
Works well with others in a team environment to achieve goals.
Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
- A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
Providing strategic advice and guidance on broad projects and science programs;
Implementing team leadership strategies and setting goals that align with policy and Agency objectives (e.g., developing strategic plans or other overarching strategic activities);
Collecting/analyzing data and evaluating the effectiveness of programs/projects to present and recommend improvements to leadership for decision making.
