Duties

This position will allow you to use your expertise to lead the development and implementation of key mission support processes for the organization. You will have responsibility over mission support policy, logistics, procurement, workforce and position management, and financial programs and services. This position starts at a salary of $116,393.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $151,308.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $151,308.00 (GS-14, Step 10). In this Supervisory Mission Support Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals analyzing and refining existing work methods and developing new methods and procedures. Typical work assignments include: Developing and applying operational plans, objectives and strategies for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) core processes. Overseeing the execution of short and long term plans for current programs and services. Providing technical advice and leadership in the development and implementation of national programs for key support processes. Providing a full range of supervisory functions for staff to include communicating performance requirements, identifying career advancement needs, evaluating subordinate supervisors and recommending candidates for selection.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Determining the best approach or solution for resolving budget shortages and plans for long range staffing needs; Developing, testing, and adapting new methods and theories, and recommending inclusion or modification for use by organization; Overseeing the execution of budget, logistics, procurement, and quality assurance programs; Developing work plans and schedules to satisfy immediate and long-term mission support needs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 12/27/2023.
