Management Department, Biomedical Engineering Division of the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth (NMCP), VA.

Duties
Assist in the development of preventative maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of medical equipment.
Utilize necessary references to gather and acquire repair parts for required maintenance.
Complete assigned preventative maintenance and rebuild of equipment.
Prepare reports on completed work to Supervisor.
Provide in-service training, presentation, and orientation on new equipment to customers and staff.
Maintain equipment service history in the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) automated inventory system, to include opening and closing work requests, documenting services provided by vendors, and producing reports.
Serve as a technical advisor in the purchase of new medical equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing any two or more of the following: assisting in performing maintenance repairs of biomedical equipment, inspecting medical equipment to determine required current and preventive maintenance, utilizing an automated inventory system database to order parts and maintain equipment records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
