Duties
You will counsel individuals in the identification and awareness of early warning signs, abuse detection techniques, and preventative measures of substance abuse.
You will devise treatment plans for the resolution of personal, social, or environmental difficulties related to substance abuse.
You will conduct a psychological assessment on patients diagnosed with substance abuse disorder to address patient condition.
You will maintain client records, statistical reports, and other correspondence (e.g. case histories, assessments, progress, summary notes) in compliance with organizational and professional counseling requirements.
You will coordinate case management services (e.g., assess follow-through with treatment recommendations) to determine if additional referrals or resources are needed.
You will work with clients to set goals and objectives for patient treatment in counseling sessions.
Requirements

- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Inability to obtain and maintain the required clearance level may be a cause for removal from the position.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting screenings and assessments; providing therapeutic counseling, consultation services and education related to substance abuse disorders.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:
Basic Requirements for Psychologist (0180): Successfully completion of a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations.
AND
Successful completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or successful completion all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution.
Basic Requirements for Social worker (0185):
Successful completion of a degree in social work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. AND successful completion of a master's degree in social work with practicum.
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Possession of a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent.
