You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Office of the Operations Officer of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND MARIANAS. Duties

You will provide interpretation of regulatory material and action to be taken where alternate courses are available and no precedent has been established. You will mentor employees to constantly look to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the execution and oversight of programs and projects. You will serve as the Regional Commander's principal advisor for the functions of Naval On-Scene Coordinator (NOSC), Regional Environmental Coordination (REC), Environmental Executive Agent (EEA) and any future Lead Environmental Component (LEC). You will develop, formulate and evaluate policy for environmental protection and compliance throughout the Regional Commander's area of responsibility. You will maintains awareness of current and emerging environmental regulations and policies; monitors impact on mission and operations and advises Commander, Senior Mission Commander and tenant leadership. You will provide advice to the Navy leadership on development and implementation of technical policy directives and programs, identify problems, furnish technical advice on individual technical problems and evaluation of recent trends and findings.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.

  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing policy and procedure applications to modify concepts, resolve unique or novel problems, or significantly modify standard practices, processes, and known techniques of various environmental programs; and applying new developments and theories to major environmental issues, coordination efforts, and conflict resolution facilitation.   1. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
