This position is assigned to the Transportation Section of the Engineering Service of the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) in Tuskegee.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Making arrangements for vehicle use, verifying incoming invoices for payment, and calling vendors to discuss discrepancies; Preparing accident reports based on information received from the customer, and providing advice to customers on the number of repair estimates needed and places to get estimates; Maintaining records on Government-owned vehicles and ensuring that information pertaining to vehicle identification tags, field assignment or termination, and maintenance or repair records is accurate and current; Collecting, compiling, and/or tracking data and statistical information in support of the Transportation Program at CAVHCS; Planning, reviewing, and reporting on data gathered daily for the statistical results of the computerized database, Comprehensive Automobile Reporting System (CARS); Establishing protocols for incoming data, organizing computerized data sets, and retrieving computerized data from databases; Analyzing data and generating a variety of reports; Coordinating incoming data pertaining to General Service Administration (GSA) fleet vehicles and station owned vehicles from a variety of sources; Reviewing documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensuring data entry is complete and accurate; Maintaining an automated system of program-specific data to track ongoing expenses for leased and owned vehicles at CAVHCS; Entering new vehicle acquisitions into the CARS database, and ensuring that all information entered into the CARS database is correct; Scheduling preventative maintenance for GSA Fleet Vehicles on a monthly basis; Tracking costs of leased and owned vehicles; Reviewing service tickets and receipts and entering information into databases; Tracking all accidents related to the leased and owned vehicles; Performing clerical duties such as dispatching vehicles, answering phones, and maintaining various databases and logs; Scheduling and dispatching drivers and vehicles for patient transportation, patient recreation, and other official business purposes; Performing related duties as required. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-05: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: performing clerical duties; answering phones, scheduling patient transportation, and dispatching vehicles; and making arrangements for vehicle use by determining customer needs. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. ~OR~ A bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college, or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, driving an automobile, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
